According to the state department charged with the organization and celebration of independence on 31 August, 53 events will be held accross the republic. Organizers say that this year will be “more spectacular” than previous years.
Deputy Head of the State Directorate Akimbek Tekesh said that in addition to cultural events around the country to mark the 20th anniversary of independence, a series of books and films devoted to the economic, social and cultural development of Kyrgyzstan are going to be released.
According to the Deputy Governor of Naryn, Saltanat Esenamanova, on August 31 in Naryn region a festive demonstration with representatives from all districts and schools will be held.
Also planned are theatrical events, sporting events, competitions and performances by folk heroes, the manaschi. In the evening the celebrations will end with fireworks.
In Talas oblast a festive demonstration in the central square and national sports will also be held.
In an interview with Kloop.kg, deputy governor of Issyk-Kul region Nurbek Kenenbaev said he plans a “big celebration”, which will be based on a special scenario.
“Before the feast several scientific conferences devoted to the 20th anniversary of independence will be held,” said Kenenbaev.
Further South, Zhumagul Egamberdiev, Deputy Governor of Jalal-Abad region, told Kloop.kg that on August 31 a big concert featuring pop stars had been planned, as well as a contest: “The Best librarian.”
After 2010′s ethnic violence, and the continued service of nationalist mayor Melis Myrzakmatov, all eyes will be on Osh.
His deputy,Taalaibek Sabirov, says a holiday in the city will begin with a military parade and wreath-laying at the city’s major monuments. This will be followed by a theatrical performance on the theme of the country’s achievements and those of Osh in the past 20 years – the actors will be representatives of important committees and organizations.
In the evening there will be a concert “United Kyrgyzstan”.
In an interview with Kloop.kg Vice-Mayor of remote Batken, Imigulsun Ryskulov, said that preparations for the holiday were “well underway”.
“The streets are decorated with slogans and have banners dedicated to Kurmanzhan Datka (hero of Southern Kyrgyz, the “Queen of Alai”) and Independence Day,” said Ryskulov.
At the Stadium on August 31 there will be fair of agro products. Sporting events and holiday concerts will also be held. In the evening there will be a disco for young people.
During August, there will also be a series of programs about 20 historic figures in Kyrgyzstan on national television, detailing the people who contributed to the development of the coountry and the surrounding region as well as 20 other interesting people in the modern era.
